  যে সকল যক্ষ্ণা রোগি তামাক পাতা ব্যবহার করে কিংবা ধূমপান করে, তাদের ক্ষেত্রে ফুসফুসের যক্ষায় আক্রান্ত হয়ে রোগ বেড়ে যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বেশি। তামাক ব্যবহারকারী ও ধূমপায়ী রোগিদেরই যক্ষ্ণা থেকে ফুসফুসে ক্ষত হওয়া এবং হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হবার সম্ভাবনা বেশি থাকে। তামাকের অভ্যাস যক্ষা রোগিদের সেরে ওঠার ক্ষেত্রে একটি বড় বাধা। একজন সাধারণ যক্ষ্ণা রোগির চেয়ে
