Currently, various questionnaires/tools have been developed to measure and assess the health status of children and adolescents around the world, which are used to improve the quality of healthcare in developed and developing countries. The EQ-5D is a simple and common questionnaire that is widely used to measure the health of adults in developed and developing countries. The EQ-5D-Y is a new version of this questionnaire that is specifically designed to measure the health of children and adolescents.
The EQ-5D-Y questionnaire has not yet been translated into Bengali and has not yet been used to measure child health in Bangladesh. The aim of this study was to test the Bengali version of the EQ-5D-Y questionnaire in Bangladesh. The EQ-5D-Y questionnaire was completed by students studying at school (EQ-5D-Y self-complete) or their guardians (EQ-5D-Y parent proxy) with the assistance of a research assistant.
The study analyzed the accuracy of the EQ-5D-Y questionnaire (students, parents or guardians), the time required to complete the questionnaire, and the students’ views on their health.
