On 24th November, 2025, ARK Foundation arranged a special webinar for โ€˜World AMR Awareness Week 2025โ€™, which highlighted the critical gap between national policies and local action in the fight against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Our expert speakers revealed major problems, including a lack of integrated data and low stakeholder motivation, stressing the need to translate AMR policies into real-world results.
Key recommendations from our panelists:
* Formation of collaborative teams of clinicians and lab personnel to enhance reporting and develop effective treatment protocols.
* Strengthening community-level surveillance to enforce pharmacy regulations and hold illegal sellers of antibiotics accountable.
* Transformation the AMR response into a widespread social movement through multi-sectoral engagement and community trust.
A big thank you to our distinguished guests: Dr. Samsad Rabbani Khan (ARC, VH and Diarrhea Program, Communicable Disease Control, Disease Control Division, DGHS); Dr. Aninda Rahman (National Professional Officerโ€“AMR, World Health Organization Bangladesh); Dr. Khaleda Islam (Former Director, Primary Health Care, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh); and Prof. Rumana Huque (Executive Director, ARK Foundation and Professor, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka).
A heartfelt thank you to all our speakers and participants for their meaningful contributions and for standing with us throughout AMR Awareness Week.
